Padel is having a real moment right now – and there are plenty of places you can get your game on in Yorkshire!

Whether you’re a seasoned player or a complete newbie, these incredible clubs are just the excuse you need to pick up your racket and start playing. With padel widely cited as one of the fastest growing sports in the world, these are the best places in Yorkshire where you can get in on the action.

Slazenger Padel, Leeds

Slazenger Padel is the premium padel destination, and their Leeds North offering is one of the biggest indoor clubs in the UK. They boast an impressive 12 panoramic courts, with state-of-the-art facilities spanning luxury changing rooms, an on-site shop and a members’ bar for refuelling afterwards.

New to the sport? No need to worry – their expert coaches and Intro to Padel sessions can help all ages and skill levels get up to speed. We found this really useful to get us up and running as an absolute beginner. When you’re ready to play, court bookings start from £28 an hour. You can also sign up for a membership from £20 per month, giving you 20% off court bookings and retail sales, along with access to the free on-site gym equipment.

Surge Padel, Harrogate

The stunning spa town of Harrogate certainly hasn’t been sleeping on the padel boom. Surge Padel is an impressively modern and sleek club, with six state-of-the-art Adidas padel courts available to book. It’s a great place to start your padel journey, with equipment hire and expert coaching helping you get your swing up to scratch.

The facilities are no slouch either – luxurious changing spaces and an on-site bar provide the perfect spot to unwind after a game. This felt like a real treat – not a feeling we usually associate with exercise. If you want to get competitive, adult and junior leagues as well as inter-club championships are held here. Those who just fancy a game among friends can book a court from £24 per hour. Alternatively, you can invest in a Club Wallet membership, with different priced options offering various amounts of court time and unlocking up to 20% off bookings.

Game4Padel, Huddersfield

Game4Padel is a padel club in Yorkshire that’s truly open to all. Two covered courts are available to hire on a pay and play basis. Want to nail your serve? Book one of the Improver lessons – it took our previously shabby game up a notch or two. Looking to show off your skills? There’s an Americano Tournament for you. Just wanting to have some fun? Their Social Padel sessions have you covered.

You don’t need to bring your own racket either – they can be hired on-site from just £4 an hour, and you can purchase balls from reception. Court hire starts from £24 for 60 minutes. A club membership gives you discounts, priority booking and exclusive events from just £6.50 a month, and there’s even a Starter Package with a three-month membership and racket to give you a taste of the action.

Play Padel Sheffield

Play Padel Sheffield can be found at Abbeydale Tennis Club, with four indoor padel courts including three doubles and one single court. It ticks all the boxes – rental rackets, professional coaching for all levels and a casual coffee bar on-site, ideal for discussing pre-game tactics or resting your tired feet afterwards. Our visit showed it to be the kind of place that combines professionalism with friendliness in just the right mix.

Play Padel runs on a pay to play basis, with court hire starting from around £40 an hour. There’s no formal membership for this club, but you can sign up to a PadelPlus+ subscription for £20 per month, unlocking discounts and priority booking. Whether you sign up or not, everyone’s welcome to join their free WhatsApp community for events, info and like-minded players.

Wetherby Padel Club, Wetherby

Nothing quite compares to getting out in the fresh air for a competitive game of padel – if the Yorkshire weather allows it, that is. If that’s what you’re after, the four outdoor courts at Wetherby Padel Club should serve you well. Part of the Grange Park Sports Club community, the club is open 365 days a year, offering everything from coaching and competitions to social events, along with access to the clubhouse, on-site cafe and bar.

It’s a super affordable option too. Court hire starts from just £16 per hour off-peak or £24 at peak times – and racket hire is completely free. Frequent players can bag themselves court hire discounts, advanced bookings and access to club tournaments by signing up to membership at just £90 for the year. We’ll see you on the court.

The Padel Farm, York

There aren’t many padel clubs like this one. The Padel Farm is wonderfully unique – bursting with rustic charm and situated just a 15-minute drive from York city centre. Escape the hustle and bustle while you work up a sweat on the two indoor panoramic padel courts, which can be hired on a pay to play basis from £20 an hour. You don’t need to bring anything with you either – rackets and balls can be rented.

Get serious with one-on-one or group coaching sessions, or just kick back and take in the serene setting in the covered outdoor lounge area. And of course, padel can be thirsty work – so take some time to head to the quirky converted horse box which serves as the on-site coffee bar. It’s a lemonade for us, please.
