Let their imagination run wild at Brodsworth Hall. This Yorkshire half-term event invites them to create their very own version of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ with the help and guidance of some friendly Victorian storytellers. They’ll get to draw new creatures before dressing up to play the characters. It’s an ideal choice for budding creatives of all ages.

JORVIK Viking Festival in York
Get ready because the Viking warriors are returning to York – and they’re bringing a huge array of family-friendly events, from the Encampment on Parliament Street where you can get their face painted and watch the Vikings in action, to craft workshops and the Viking Digital Trail. There’s even the Berserker Bootcamp where the kids can get ready for combat and Poo Week at DIG that lets them learn why archaeologists are so intrigued by this smelly little treasure.

Kids go free at Askham Bryan Wildlife & Conservation Park

Half-term is the perfect time to make some new animal friends and there’s nowhere better to do just that than Askham Bryan Wildlife & Conservation Park. Located off the A64 and with free parking, it’s home to over 100 species of critters – and kids go free during Feb half-term! Meet meerkats, otters, racoons, wallabies and so much more. There’ll be keeper talks, crafts, quizzes and games to keep them entertained, along with the new Heritage Conservation Farm, playground and Hive cafe where they can refuel with something tasty. Cosmic Adventures Workshop at Stump Cross Caverns
For a fascinating and educational day out for KS2 children, head to Stump Cross Caverns in Pateley Bridge. Their one-hour Cosmic Adventures workshop is running every day of the February half-term, inviting kids to embark on a space adventure. They’ll learn about the wonders of the solar system and unleash their creativity to craft planets and constellations. They can even get the chance to gear up and explore the caves during their visit.

Yorkshire Games Festival Half-Term at the National Science and Media Museum

It’s a real extravaganza, celebrating the creativity and culture of this beloved pastime. Dark Skies Festival
Marking its 10th instalment, the awe-inspiring Dark Skies Festival returns to the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales national parks this February. The chock-a-block calendar boasts everything from a Planet Parade to AstroDog sessions in Dalby Forest and night sky safaris, made all the sweeter with a star party at the Wensleydale Ice Cream Parlour. From workshops to children’s daytime trails, it’s a spectacular event that showcases the wonders of the night sky.

Lambing Week at Boston Park Farm

William’s Magical Spectacular at William’s Den
Wands at the ready – something special is happening at William’s Den this half-term. This whimsical spot will play host to an array of magic-themed activities, including shows, crafts and challenges. Make Charcoal and Sound Maps at Fountains Abbey
If your little one has a heart for adventure, this might be the perfect half-term activity for them. This free event will see them joining the Swanley Grange ranger team as they learn new skills. They’ll make a fire responsibly, before burning sticks to create their own charcoal. Afterwards, they’ll craft sound maps by listening quietly and drawing the sounds around them. It’s a unique day out they won’t forget.

York Mythical Creature Quest
For a free day out in York that keeps the kids busy this half-term, it’s got to be the Mumbler’s Mythical Creature Quest. Embark on an enchanting walk around the city as you try to find eight mythical creatures who are hiding away. Download a trail sheet or pick one up for free at VisitYork Information Centre, then hunt down the creatures and unscramble clues to discover the Mumbler password. The quest ends at Dean’s Park, so they can have a run around afterwards to tire them out even more before hometime.
