Whether you’re looking to delight the kids or relive your youth, there’s plenty going on this winter at Eureka!
Cold outside? There are plenty of ways to beat the chill at Eureka! in Halifax. With more than 400 indoor exhibits to explore, it’s a family day out that doesn’t depend on the forecast. And there’s even more reason to visit in the run-up to Christmas, with everything from festive crafts and Santa visits to an adults-only evening where you can relive your school trip days.
Explore two floors of indoor discovery

First things first – Eureka! is not your average museum. Every inch of the 6,500-square-metre site has been designed especially for kids to get stuck in and play, with over 400 hands-on exhibits spread over six themed zones. From exploring the wonders of science and nature to stepping into a mini town where they can roleplay different jobs, there’s always something to spark their imagination.
There’s no need to keep little hands in pockets here, either – touching, trying and experimenting is all part of the fun. Let the kids take the lead and follow their curiosity, while you enjoy a day out that’s safely out of the hands of the Yorkshire weather.
Discover a sprinkle of Christmas magic

This Christmas, there’s even more to discover. The big guy in red is setting up his very own festive hideaway at Eureka!, complete with Christmas crafting, a chance to meet Mrs Claus and a visit to Santa’s Grotto. The Christmas Experience is ticketed separately from the museum, so you can swing by for a little festive magic without booking general admission, if you’d prefer. You’ll get a hot drink and a festive treat with your ticket, along with a gift for all children.
Across the wider museum, little ones can get stuck into light and colour activities in the Creativity Space, while the Christmas trail will keep curious explorers busy – just grab a sheet from the info desk to get started. There’s also an interactive storytelling session inspired by The Gruffalo’s Child, recommended for ages 3 to 7, with places bookable on arrival.
When: The Christmas Experience takes place on weekends from Saturday 5th December then daily from Friday 18th to Wednesday 23rd December 2026. The wider museum activities take place on selected dates from Saturday 5th December 2026 to Sunday 3rd January 2027.
Bring your little explorers to Baby & Toddler Day

Visiting with tiny tots? There’s plenty to fuel their curiosity across the main museum, but Eureka!’s special Baby & Toddler Days put its youngest visitors front and centre. Dedicated for children aged 0-5 and their families (although older kids are welcome), they’re a chance to explore, play and discover together at your little one’s own pace.
Little hands can turn paper bags into puppets, get stuck into sensory play and join in with nursery rhymes. There’ll be extra activities in the Soundgarden and Desert Discovery Zones, with Eureka!’s Enablers on-hand for storytime sessions.
When: Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th and Friday 20th November 2026.
Relive your childhood at Eureka! Lates

Picture the scene. You’ve put on your best tracksuit, fed your Tamagotchi and hopped on the bus for a school trip to Eureka!. Life couldn’t be simpler. Now you can relive those childhood memories at Eureka! Lates – the museum’s adults-only night.
You’ll get to let your inner child loose across the museum, revisiting old favourites and getting hands-on with the exhibits. This time, there’s no teacher doing a headcount and no kids competing for a turn. There’ll be food and booze too – and who knows, you might even learn a thing or two.
When: Friday 27th November 2026.
How much: Tickets cost £15. Spaces are limited, so gather your old schoolmates fast if you fancy it.
Turn one day out into a year of discovery
A ticket to Eureka! gives you unlimited visits for a whole year, so you can come back after the festive season and beyond for no extra cost. Tickets cost £18.95 for adults and kids aged three and above, £8.45 for one to twos, and under ones get in free.
