Chopping Block at Walmgate Ale House

Head upstairs at Walmgate Ale House and you’ll discover The Chopping Block, a French-style bistro with all the finesse and none of the pretense. As well as their contemporary Anglo-French menu, they also do a slap-up Sunday roast which comes as part of a two or three-course set menu.
Roast beef, roast pork, pulled beef with onion and a vegetarian wellington are all on offer, but the real gem is the sage and onion stuffed chicken. You’ve got to get it while you can though, as they only prepare a limited quantity each Sunday. Whatever you go for, you’ll get roasties, seasonal veg and homemade Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Spice up your order with a side of cheesy leeks, it’s a mouth-watering addition to your meal that you won’t regret – bonne appetite!
