For only the bravest of buccaneers, you can even walk the plank off a three-metre diving board into the pool below.

North Yorkshire Water Park is a playground for children and adults alike. From paddleboarding to kayaking, wakeboarding to open water swimming, chances are if you’re looking to get wet and wild, this is the place to do so. Need a couple of recommendations? We jumped in at the deep end with their adrenaline-packed AquaPark and couldn’t get enough of it.

Elsewhere, there are three different courses to choose from, all on the picturesque Wyndham Lake. The Warrior Course is the most challenging but the most fun, with massive inflatable slides, rope swings, big jumps, obstacles, climbing walls and trampolines, all on the water. Yep, you heard that right.

Huddersfield Leisure Centre Splash Park

The slides at Splash Park, Huddersfield Leisure Centre

If you’re on the hunt for an indoor water park in Yorkshire that’s perfect for kids, look no further than Huddersfield Leisure Centre’s Splash Park. It was designed with little ones in mind, and with a whole host of water features, slides and shallow pools, they won’t be bored anytime soon.

We recommend kicking things off with a zoom down the flume, before making a splash under the tipping water buckets. No trip would be complete without a whirl on the Sidewinder, a colossal U-shaped structure which boomerangs you sky-high and back to earth in a giant rubber ring. Finish off by winding down with a float in the Lazy River and you’ve had yourself a splashtastic day out.

Where? Spring Grove Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD1 4BP.
How much? Entry starts from £4.40 for adults and £2.50 for kids.
